Melissa Garza Thierry

Melissa Thierry serves as the associate director, regional campuses, for University Life. In this role, she provides leadership in the coordination and facilitation of University Life academic support services at Mason Square.
Melissa has been with Mason since 2013. She holds a bachelor of music from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a master of music education from Southern Methodist University. She lives in Arlington with her husband, Joe, and their two children. She is active in her church choir, local elementary PTA leadership, and is an advocate for Down syndrome awareness and education.

Sophie serves as the programming and administrative coordinator. She supports operational areas and administrative aspects of University Life Mason Square and assists in facilitating University Life programs and services that are integral to student's educational success. Sophie has a passion for loud concerts, brunch menus, and hiking Virginia’s beautiful parks. Sophie received her B.A. in global affairs and M.A. in arts management from George Mason University.

Mary serves as the programming coordinator with University Life Mason Square. She manages the day-to-day University Life programs and events on the Mason Square Plaza and across the campus. She oversees the Plaza programming team and the events that they lead. Mary has a passion for reading, video games, and the perfect cozy cup of tea. Mary received her B.A. in English and M.Ed. in elementary education from Marymount University.
