Submit non-emergency requests such as room temperature, broken items for repair, housekeeping issues, or new equipment installation through Mason’s online work order system.

Van Metre Hall and Hazel Hall are open daily, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Electronic Card Access

Visit the Card Access Security Office (CASO) website for instructions on how to obtain electronic card access on your Mason ID.

Key Access

Van Metre Hall, Room 216

The Key Control office has the responsibility of issuing keys to university offices. Individuals who have been authorized to have specific office keys can report to the Key Control office with a Mason ID card to obtain the keys.

A properly signed and authorized key request should be sent from your department prior to key pick up. Complete the Key Request Form for offices in Van Metre Hall and Hazel Hall. Contact 703-993-8207 with questions. Arrangements for key pick-up should be made in advance. Key Control is located in Van Metre Hall, Room 216.

Vernon Smith Hall

Vernon Smith Hall (3434 Washington Boulevard) is managed by Lincoln Properties, and as a result, facilities management and building maintenance are processed differently. Use the following links below. Contact Campus Operations at with any questions related to policies/procedures in Vernon Smith Hall.

Vernon Smith Hall:
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For After-Hours Maintenance Issues at Vernon Smith Hall

Follow these instructions to report urgent building maintenance issues to building management (Lincoln Properties) after 6 p.m. or during weekends/holidays.

In case of an emergency maintenance situation (or other urgent building matter):

Contact the Lincoln Properties Management Office at 703-351-0000 to report maintenance emergencies.

Property Management office phones are forwarded to the LPC Call Center after hours to ensure you will speak with a live person anytime you call the Management Office.

The building access control provider, GENESIS, also maintains a list of the building management and engineering emergency contact information.  GENESIS may also be used for an after-hours maintenance emergency.  GENESIS can be reached at 301-515-4400.

After making the call to Lincoln Properties, call Mason’s Campus Operations representative to report the issue for tracking purposes.
