Emergency management training doesn’t usually involve game controllers or artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, but at George Mason University, faculty and students are redefining what it means to prepare for crises. Through cutting-edge, AI-augmented games, they’re transforming complex challenges into interactive learning experiences that build skills and resilience.

Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones continue their legacy of philanthropy at George Mason University with a transformative $1 million gift to establish the Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones Networking Testbed Lab within the Fuse at Mason Square building.

In this role, Shehu will lead the strategy and implementation of AI across research, academics, and partnerships for the university, maximizing opportunity and adoption in addressing the world’s grand challenges while leading on ethical considerations, governance, and risk mitigation.

An event on Nov. 3 at the Mason Square campus celebrated the "topping out" of the Fuse building, meaning the structural frame of the building is complete.

Mason freshmen Pranay Yella and Pranav Reddippali were on the team that took second place at the Mason/Amazon 2022 Bring Down Counterfeiting Public Policy Hackathon.
